- Hi fructose blog :

» French artist Ciou creates mixed media works on paper and canvas featuring her own « necro-kawaii » cosmology of characters mainly centered around witch-y nature girls and their animal companions. Her darkly charming works are creepy in a very playful way, reminiscent of the drawings the cool, bad girls would do in high school on their notebooks in between sneaking out to smoke clove cigarettes behind the school. Her new works feature florescent psychedelic colors as a foil for her obsessive black line work  ». by Kirsten anderson

and  at the  » Death and the maiden « group show at Roq la Rue Gallery :

« If you take the time to see everything Ciou’s “Dancing with my Death“ has to offer, you might be there until you die. Demons, animals, and Death herself are rendered in exquisite detail over what looks to be old encyclopedia pages, creating an unusual backdrop for her characters interactions. » by Robbie Lowery

- The last Junkies on earth said  about Ciou’s art :

« Your eyes can´t get close enough to capture all the tiny coloured combs on the main layer and once you started, you´ll gonna get sucked into her world of bizarre. Her floating spooky girls and their animal friends, significants for youth and virginity, deal playfully with the morbid present of death and demise. Her girls´ playgrounds are the graveyards in our minds. The older we get,  the more we might get lost in the dark side of her images. The sweet innocent blurs faster and faster until it vanishes and is gone. Thanks to Ciou that she brings back all our unawakened reminiscences. Kittenish she combines them with our somber expectations of life. That´s how Ciou cheekily reminds everyone of us what real life is: a little bit of sweet and a little bit of sour.  »

Ciou and Morphik, brand from California

MORPHIK is a new and novel art-to-wear concept.  Inventing jewelry that combines both authentic artwork and rich, relevant fashion fabrications, the pieces present an innovative outlet for expression.  The brainchild of enthusiast, Christopher O’Byrne, the goal of Morphik is to create a continual connection between individuals and contemporary art by delivering fashion accessories that bring original artwork to the forefront.

Morphik’s signature offering is a group of unisex bracelets featuring authentic images of interchangeable artworks.  Printed on genuine fine art paper and placed under a scratch resistant cover these renderings are set securely inside stainless steel frames, which are then dropped and locked magnetically into the branded wristbands.  Band options include a variety of luxury skins in stylish colors, including Patent Leather, Vintage Cow, Natural Python and more.

Recognizing that art is subjective, the interchangeable artwork selection spans classifications ranging from Painting to Graffiti, Photography to Street Art and more.  A convenient build-a-band tool on the company website allows customers to mix and match bands and artworks before ultimately selecting a combination for purchase. Each bracelet arrives in a beautiful window-front box for display.  The artwork comes in a separate box in which it locks onto a chrome pedestal.  The box then transforms into a frame, which can be hung on the wall as a work of art.

Morphik’s global artist network is the result of years of contacting, cultivating and curating.  It includes talent from Japan, China, the United States, France, Germany, Brazil and beyond.  Each conveys an individual visual language that represents the diverse trends happening in contemporary art practice.  Morphik works with each individual artist to ensure that the integrity and distinctive attributes of their original artwork are fully captured and delivered.

Doing its part to keep the enthusiasm alive, Morphik donates a percentage of profits to affiliate art organizations as selected by the artists themselves. “By buying a Morphik product, our customers help support and bring awareness to the benefits and vitality the arts have to offer people of all ages and backgrounds,” explains O’Byrne. A few choice charities with which Morphik is involved include « Make Something » www.makesomethingschool.com/info and Harmony Project www.harmony-project.org/.

All Morphik products are designed and assembled in Los Angeles, California.  Bands and artworks can be sold together or separately at www.morphik.com as well as select boutiques worldwide.  Sets can be purchased at retail for $160.
